Growing up in The Netherlands, the four seasons we much more prominent than in the San Francisco Bay Area, where we live now. Every season had something nice: the smell of grass or swimming in the lake in summer, fall colors and chestnuts in the fall, skating on the canals in winter, and the fresh green leaves and flowers of the spring. But winters could be long and dark. The varying amount of daylight definitely had an effect on our mood. By the end of January we were all looking forward to spring! Here in California the seasonal differences are much smaller and I sometimes miss that. Perhaps because of the more consistent and sunny weather on most days I feel my mood is not very seasonal here.

Nice reflections, Elies. Just as there's something to be said for the lightness and darkness of the different seasons, I sometimes wonder if we miss out on the accompanying ups and downs of mood by living in California? Although I have to say, I don't really miss the significant downs!

I’m fairly seasonal; bipolar II accentuates the effect of seasons on my mood. I think I’d be autumn. Enjoying the last of the sunny months and the changes in nature preparing for winter. Slowing down for a rest.

Nice thoughts, Kris. Nothing like crunchy leaves underfoot, and the thought of a little hibernation upcoming.
